Small, Intimate Wedding at Hayden Lake Country Club in Hayden Lake, Idaho | Sarah and Eric

Hayden Lake Country Club Wedding

A cocktail cruise. A five-course meal. A fireworks show. These extravagant features are often accompanied by huge wedding parties, heaps of family and friends, and enormous receptions. But on a sunny day at the Hayden Lake Country Club, Sarah and Eric tied the knot in front of just 18 of their closest family and friends. They enjoyed a cocktail cruise on Hayden Lake. They indulged in a five-course meal. They ended the night with a fireworks show over the lake. They had a beautiful, intimate wedding while still pulling out all the stops.

Sarah and Eric chose the Country Club because they wanted an upscale vibe, while still capturing the natural beauty of Northern Idaho. The decorations had to be just right to capture the vision the couple had; Sarah did extensive planning to make sure the dinner and ceremony decorations matched what they desired. She struggled with the lighting, draping, and decor due to the finite number of companies in the area specializing in what she wanted. Like Sarah, many brides have difficulties finding and choosing wedding vendors. Martha Stewart Weddings offers up 10 tips to help brides make the right decisions when searching for vendors.

A Wedding Planner To Bring It All Together

Sarah hired Jessica at Red Letter Event Planning to handle the wedding coordination. Jessica helped Sarah find her vendors and provided recommendations to ease the process of endless wedding research. In a previous blog post, I discussed reasons why hiring a wedding planner is a good idea; from helping brides stick to their wedding budget to being a “safety net” on the big day, wedding planners can save brides the stress and hassle that is associated with creating their dream day.

From the smallest of details, like the gauzy draping on the reception chairs and lush floral centerpiece, to the upscale dinner and dessert, every aspect of Eric and Sarah’s wedding was beautifully planned and executed. Sarah glowed in every photo taken. Having a small wedding allowed the couple to spend time with each and every one of their guests and truly enjoy their day. Whether they were laughing on the cruise boat or cuddled up together at the reception, Sarah and Eric radiated happiness.

Research is a huge part of planning a wedding. “I think I did the most research on makeup and hair because I knew if I didn’t feel like I looked good it would not be a good day,” Sarah reflected. Brides that plan on hiring a hair and makeup artist should do their research and find a professional that is a good fit for the look they are going for. Sarah looked stunning and she was happy with how everything turned out.

Bride Advice

Sarah’s biggest piece of advice for other brides is to “only do what you are comfortable with!” From the guest list to the florist, it’s important to remember that at the end of the day, the ones that should be happy are the ones getting married. Trying to please too many people could result in a wedding day that the bride doesn’t even feel like is her own anymore. Sarah planned and had the wedding she dreamed of because she did what she would be happy with.

This intimate (yet still extravagant) lakeside wedding was exactly what Sarah and Eric had dreamed of. Spending time with loved ones, constantly laughing and smiling with each other, and a gorgeous venue made their day extremely special. The cocktail cruise, fancy meal, and fireworks were all great aspects, but the best part of the day was that Sarah and Eric said “I do” in front of the people they love most.
