Small, Intimate Backyard Wedding in Spokane, Washington | Robin and Tyler

Blended Family Spokane Wedding

Weddings are about uniting two families together. Robin and Tyler’s August 25th backyard wedding was centered around this concept. Both Robin and Tyler have children from previous marriages, so the focus was on celebrating their new, large family together. Every aspect of the day was focused on togetherness and the love the two families have for each other.

The wedding was held outdoors in the backyard of Robin’s uncle’s house in the Indian Trails area of Spokane. Surrounded by lush greenery and colorful flowers, Robin and Tyler said “I do” in front of their family and friends. They picked their venue because they both wanted an outdoor wedding and the backyard was both a beautiful and economical choice.

Backyard Wedding

Backyard weddings are a great option for couples looking to incorporate a special place into their big day, searching for an affordable option, or just because of the natural beauty backyards have. The Knot provides information to brides looking into backyard weddings. Some of their tips include arranging rentals (like chairs, tents, and linens) as early as possible, assessing how level the ground is and communicating that to the rental companies, and alerting neighbors if parking, noise, or lighting may disrupt them. It’s important to consider these aspects when arranging an outdoor, backyard wedding to make sure everything runs smoothly on the big day.

Reflecting on the day, Robin said her favorite part was “finally saying ‘I do.’” The day went smooth, from the backyard ceremony to the laid-back reception; the couple enjoyed spending time with each other, their children, and their guests.

Fun, Low-Key Wedding Reception

When asked what part of the day they planned for the most, Robin said the reception because they “really wanted a low key reception that people would have fun at”. Their goal was achieved, the smiles and laughter that filled the day attest to that.

Robin offers up some advice to couples planning their wedding, saying “you don’t need a lot of ‘stuff’ to have a great wedding. It’s the couple and their love that makes the day!” That was true with Robin and Tyler. Their day was filled with the people they love, celebrating the unity of two families in a beautiful outdoor setting.
