Lifestyle photography is simply capturing authentic moments highlighting people and their personalities. This isn't the old style portraiture of standing next to a tree in the park and everyone smiling. Think of this as having an activity you take part in and having a me document the moments as they happen. We'll get a couple of those looking-at-the-camera portraits, but the goal is to highlight the moments.
Collaboration is key. I work with every person to identify what will make their images unique, authentic, and showcase personality and character. It can be as extra or simple as it needs to be. Do you want to capture you making Saturday morning pancakes with your kids? That's an awesome opportunity to highlight what life is like for you right now? How about an adventure on the boat for some fun water shots? Go on a hike, play on the trampoline, venture out on the snowmobiles. I'm game for anything. It just depends on what will best tell your story. I'm here to help you figure that out.
I've traveled far and wide for portraits. If you're wanting to keep it local to my Coeur d'Alene studio, we can travel 50 miles. We can go out side that radius and we'll determine the costs for that depending on where we go and for how long. If you want to venture out for a destination portrait session, I'm game. I've done portraits sessions on the beach in Big Sur, ventured around downtown Seattle, hiked around Olympic Peninsula, and roamed the streets of the French Quarter.
I offer some really nice matted Baryta prints for small displays and larger wall displays.
The canvas maker I've partnered with has been making canvases the same way since the 1960s. These aren't your Costco canvases. These things are the finest canvases out there — amazingly detailed and so durable you can clean them with Windex.
We custom design albums with your favorite images and they are presented in high-quality product that is significantly better than what's available in the retail market.
Cards are also custom designed for holidays, graduation announcements, save-the-date cards with engagement portraits, and whatever other events you want to highlight. They can have the return and mailing addresses preprinted onto the envelopes.
And of course, digital images are also available. If you're wanting to share them on social media, design your own book, or print images on your own, digital images offer that flexibility.
That all depends on what you're wanting.
Sessions are $200 per hour and the session fees are paid at the time of booking your session. Then you decide what you want at the image reveal session. There is a $400 minimum order at the reveal session and there are no prebuilt collections so you purchase what you want a la carte. Some spend as little as $600 and other spend more with albums, custom cards, canvases, prints, and digital images available for their display needs.
I used to have all sorts of "rules" and found out that can really dampen style and personality. If you love bright, loud colors and that's how people see you every day, then rock them colors. If you're the Hawaiian shirt dude even in the winter, go for it.
The top two rules are to wear what you feel comfortable and confident in, and be authentically you.
The best time is whenever it is time.
Big life milestones (new baby, graduation, recently engaged, moved into a new house, etc.) are good reasons. But sometimes it's time when it's time — meaning if you have three children and nobody has seen photographic proof of the last two, it's probably time. Or you may want to update family and friends with a holiday card, or do something special for a friend or family member,
Whenver you're ready, reach out and let's plan a great session.
What you see on my website is what you can expect.
My goal is accurate skin tones, great colors that pop, and nice contrast that provides great depth to an image.
I'm not a fan of trendy presets. Trends mean they won't be trendy for long. I like to go for images that look timeless rather than trendy.
