REASONS FOR A FAMILY PORTRAIT

I know, this is not the year for pictures. Maybe next year. I hear this way too often. And by the time they get around to it, it’s usually because they’ve realized it's been too long … decades perhaps since their last family portrait session if at all.

For most of us, time passes too fast. And when time goes by like that, things often get pushed to the wayside because we’re simply too busy trying to keep up with everything else life puts on our plates.

This also means we have these moments where we realize how quickly the moments we want to cherish pass by as well. Birthday, family gatherings, summer outings, basically all that quality time we wished lasted longer are just a few instances of what happens and then is past us in a flash.

Unfortunately, this is when we wished we would’ve taken the time to have something to remember these events.

For example, your child is about to go into junior high and you realized the last great picture you have of them hanging on the wall that doesn’t have a “school blue” background was from Disneyland six years ago.

Or worse, perhaps your great-grandmother had visited from out-of-state three times in the last five years and you haven’t had one picture of the kids with her since they were born. And now you just heard she won’t be able to make the trip again.

Family pictures are so important to us, yet we tend to take them for granted.

Reasons why most people decide to invest in a family portrait session:

  • Update Old Portrait
  • Before someone leaves for school or work
  • While the family is all together on a vacation or visit
  • Celebrating a milestone
  • Someone is getting older or ill

We often don’t realize the importance of family pictures until it’s too late. A lot of us go looking for family photos when someone close to us passes away and we want to look to those pictures to help us remember. They help us cope and remember those moments we shared.

Those family pictures, like memories and stories, are part of our legacy. We hold them close, we pass them down. It’s a gift to be able to share a visual of moments, details, people, places and things to those we love, so that they, too, can feel what we feel when we reflect on those times.

Family pictures connect us to those who came before. By letting your children see your pictures from the past and the present, they become connected to their own story. They know the family members and those who came before them and helped shape the world and person they see today.

Many times, finding the perfect gift to give is difficult especially when the recipient already have most material things that they need. Candid moments of them enjoying quality time with their family that they can relive whenever they see them on their walls or in an album is a meaningful gift that lasts a lifetime.

You can easily schedule a family portrait session for yourself or purchase a gift certificate and give it to someone you care about.
